Artist Statement
I explore movement using the specificity of the smallest noticeable difference in sensations. In doing this, I research how bodies are affected by other bodies and other regions of the body. I create intricate patterns that build on each other until the structure crumbles under the weight of movement. In applying scientific principles to my practice, I make conclusions about how movement feels to a body and how it feels in the space around a body. Within the intense focus of accuracy, magic happens. Within the intense focus of accuracy, there is nothing outside of the truth told to us by our bodies. I will not simplify my work when my movement is accurate to the bodies in practice.
A dancer leans into her right hip, slightly popping her left heel. Her right arm reaches skyward as the left arm holds space in front of her body. She looks into the space between her hands.
